Ryder Cup is back at Sugar Valley once again. We would like for you to enjoy the opportunity to compete in this exciting event. This is the fourth year this event has been scheduled for the club. After each year, there have been changes made to encourage participation and make it available to all members. 2012 changes include counting only ten of your best twelve weeks of the summer. This way if you take a couple of weeks off to travel you can still qualify for the event. We make every effort to set up the competition so that you compete against other players of your own playing skills. You can say we are open to all handicap levels and to all ladies and men alike. The tournament is set for the last Friday and Saturday of August. You can easily plan this into your busy schedule. But don’t just take our word for it; feel free to ask various members around the club who have played. Some of the members who have played include: Shirley and John Wood, Pam and Pete Rauch, Joel Smith, Mark Wilson, Linda Miller, Penny Bitzer, Red O’Rouke and Jerry Wassem among many others. They will be happy to share their experiences.

What’s involved in qualifying for Ryder Cup? You simply play golf. All you need to do is to turn in one score per week over the summer. If your play more, that is okay, because we only use your best score for the week. There are a few extra bonus points available by participating in some of the weekend events.  Details of the rules are in the pro-shop. The cost is only a one-time fee of $30.00. Quite a bargain when all factors are considered.

The whole mission of Ryder Cup is to encourage members to meet other members on a friendly and competitive basis. There is a good crossover of the many groups that play Sugar Valley on a regular basis. So if you are a new or an old member we encourage you to participate in Ryder Cup. The more members that participate in the event only add to the excitement of the Ryder Cup. We hope you join us this summer. Scoring begins in May and runs through the first week of August.
